ISC2-Certified Cybersecurity Professional • 35+ Years in Technology • Founder, Golden Shield
A senior protection and digital safety initiative operating under Living Color UNA, a Not-For-Profit organization based in Maryland.

My name is Christina Chavis, founder of Golden Shield — a senior protection and digital safety initiative operating under Living Color UNA, a Not-For-Profit organization based in Maryland. We specialize in digital safety education for seniors and vulnerable populations.
I am an ISC2-certified cybersecurity professional with over 35 years of experience in technology and cybersecurity. While I have always had a passion for protecting vulnerable populations, this mission became deeply personal after my own mother became the victim of a sophisticated scam and lost over $65,000.
"What happened to my mother was not just a financial loss — it was an emotional wound. That experience is what drives everything I do at Golden Shield."
— Christina Chavis, Founder
After experiencing firsthand the emotional and financial impact these scams can have on families, I created Golden Shield to help educate and empower seniors before they become victims.
Work With ChristinaWhat happened to my mother closely resembled the type of organized scam operations portrayed in films like The Beekeeper — where professional scammers use fear, urgency, impersonation, and emotional manipulation to target seniors.
Scammers impersonate government agencies, banks, and tech companies — creating panic and urgency to extract money or personal information.
Convincing phishing messages that look exactly like real banks, Medicare, or the IRS — designed to steal login credentials and financial data.
Fake websites, romance scams, and fraudulent investment opportunities that prey on trust, loneliness, and the desire for connection.
Many seniors across the country are being targeted every day. Golden Shield exists to make sure they have the knowledge and confidence to protect themselves.
Our program provides engaging, easy-to-understand workshops that teach residents practical strategies — not fear. Our goal is to give seniors the confidence and awareness needed to safely navigate today's digital world while preserving their independence and peace of mind.
As an ISC2-certified cybersecurity professional, I spent decades protecting organizations from digital threats — but I knew the most vulnerable people were being left behind.
A sophisticated scam operation — using fear, urgency, and impersonation — targeted my mother and stole over $65,000. The emotional and financial devastation was unlike anything I had ever witnessed.
I channeled my grief and expertise into action. Golden Shield was created to educate and empower seniors before they become victims — with workshops built on dignity, patience, and real-world skills.
Every workshop, every coaching session, every family we help — it all honors my mother's experience and turns pain into purpose. This is why I do this work.
Every senior deserves patience and kindness — never judgment. I meet people exactly where they are.
Online safety isn't just about technology — it's about confidence. I teach practical skills that actually work.
My goal isn't to do it for you — it's to help you do it yourself, with pride and independence.
Seniors are the backbone of our communities. They deserve to be fully included in our digital world.
I would welcome the opportunity to offer your residents acomplimentary introductory session and discuss how Golden Shield may support your community. This opportunity is only offered to my first respondent. Whether you manage a senior living facility, community center, library, or faith organization — let's talk about how we can protect the people you serve.
